Okanagan Falls Official Community Plan & Zoning Bylaw Implementation
Background
Following a successful incorporation vote by Okanagan Falls residents in March of 2025, the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is preparing dedicated land use bylaws to support Okanagan Falls as it transitions to municipal status.
The project involves the creation of a new Official Community Plan (OCP) Bylaw and Zoning Bylaw specific to the Okanagan Falls area, as well as a corresponding amendment to the Okanagan Valley Zoning Bylaw to reflect the community's upcoming incorporation. These new bylaws will give the future municipality a clear, standalone policy and regulatory framework for land use planning — replacing the current arrangement where Okanagan Falls falls under the broader Electoral Area "D" OCP and Okanagan Valley Zoning Bylaw.
The policies and regulations in the new bylaws will largely reflect those already in place, with changes kept to a minimum to ensure continuity for residents and property owners during the transition.
