Community Champions
The Community Champions program identifies key people within their communities who are able to share accurate and timely information from the RDOS with local residents in a reliable and consistent manner.
For example, in the event of an important notice such as a boil water advisory or emergency alert to prepare for flooding, the RDOS would contact the Community Champion to share the message where people in their community will be able to receive it. This could be by any combination of phone tree, posting a paper notice on a public bulletin board, emailing association groups, posting on a community Facebook page, or speaking directly with coffee groups.
Although Community Champions do not speak on behalf of the RDOS or its Board of Directors, they do have their finger on the pulse of their communities and genuinely want to keep residents informed about events that affect where they live, work, and play.
