RDOS expresses condolences on the passing of Rob Oliver
News ArticleINFORMATION RELEASE
The Regional District of Okanagan‑Similkameen (RDOS) is deeply saddened to share the passing of former Okanagan Falls Fire Chief, Rob Oliver, who died on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the age of 69, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Rob dedicated 43 years of his life to the fire service. He served the community of Okanagan Falls with honour, progressing through the ranks from firefighter to Fire Chief. In May 2021, after moving to Willowbrook, Rob joined the Willowbrook Volunteer Fire Department, where he continued to serve with pride and commitment until his passing.
"Rob was a fabulous person to work with,” said Tony Iannella, Fire Chief, Willowbrook Volunteer Fire Department. “He was a wealth of knowledge who brightened the room with his presence. We all laughed at his catch phrase, ‘I've got a guy for that’ whenever we encountered an issue. Even when Rob got sick, he rarely missed a practice. He was an amazing man who will never be forgotten.”
Rob’s family plans to celebrate his life with an Honour Guard ceremony on April 18, 2026, and in lieu of flowers, has asked that donations be made to the Willowbrook Volunteer Fire Department.
The RDOS extends its heartfelt condolences to Rob’s family, friends, colleagues, and the many community members whose lives he touched throughout his decades of service. His leadership, dedication, and generosity will be remembered with deep appreciation.
Details regarding the Honour Guard celebration of life will be shared when available.
