Adra Tunnel seasonal closure begins November 24
News ArticleINFORMATION RELEASE
The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is advising the public that Adra Tunnel, located on the Kettle Valley Rail (KVR) Trail above Naramata in Electoral Area “E”, will be closed for the season beginning Monday, November 24, 2025.
This seasonal closure is part of the RDOS commitment to public safety and compliance with the Provincial permit requirements. The RDOS Parks department will conduct a seasonal inspection process to ensure the tunnel remains safe and secure for future use.
The RDOS would like to acknowledge the tremendous efforts of Woodwackers 2.0, whose dedication and hard work helped make this season a success. Their contributions, along with support from community partners and volunteers, have been instrumental in maintaining and enhancing access to this historic site.
“The Adra Tunnel is a regional treasure,” said Mark Pendergraft, RDOS chair. “Its seasonal closure is a necessary step to ensure it remains safe and accessible for generations to come.”
“We’re proud of the collaborative efforts that made this season such a success,” said Adrienne Fedrigo, Electoral Area “E” director. “The community’s passion for the KVR Trail and Adra Tunnel is inspiring.”
The RDOS encourages all trail users to respect the closure and posted signage. Updates will be available on the RDOS Regional Connections interactive website at rdosregionalconnections.ca.
