It is a time to honour the stories, achievements, and resilience of Indigenous Peoples and learn more about the unique cultures, traditions, and experiences of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis. The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is committed to working with and learning more about the syilx Okanagan communities.

National Indigenous Peoples Day – June 21, 2024
June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day in Canada. On this day, Canadians honour the history, heritage, and diversity of Indigenous Peoples. It is an opportunity to recognize the continued strength of Indigenous communities and the contributions First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people have made in shaping Canada. Various activities are organized across the country to acknowledge the significance of this day.

The 2^nd annual Komasket Powwow is scheduled to take place June 7-9, 2024, at Komasket Park in Vernon. Admission to the event is free. To learn more, please visit the Okanagan Indian Band event page.
