INFORMATION RELEASE

The free trial of Pioneer Park's online booking system in Kaleden (Electoral Area "I") has been extended until further notice. In October 2025, the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) Board of Directors supported the recommendation from the Kaleden Parks and Recreation Commission to move forward with a fee-based online booking system for the existing and upgraded sports courts at Pioneer Park.

An administrative report, presented to the RDOS Board of Directors on October 16, 2025, outlines the required changes to the RDOS Fees and Charges Bylaw (Bylaw No. 3097.04). All net revenue from Pioneer Park court bookings will be designated to a capital reserve fund to maintain and improve the court facilities.

Pioneer Park courts have been free of charge since the upgraded courts reopened July 21, 2025. The courts will remain free of charge until spring 2026.

Online reservations are available for the following:

• Two (2) pickleball courts
• One (1) tennis court
• One (1) volleyball court
• One (1) multi-use slab that consists of three (3) pickleball courts and one (1) basketball court

When the proposed fee-based system is implemented, booking rates will range from $12.00 per hour, per court for tennis and pickleball and $5.00 per hour, per court for the multi-use slab and volleyball court. No-charge drop-in will be available for the multi-use slab and volleyball court.
