INFORMATION RELEASE

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is pleased to share that the Similkameen Recreation Centre has undergone several positive transformations and updates over the last few years and has been recognized publicly for these efforts. 

This hard work has resulted in the Similkameen Recreation Centre being recognized for the second consecutive year by Penticton Western News’ Best of the South Okanagan with the award for Best Fitness/Gym. 

The gym has added multi-functional equipment to both levels as well as spin bikes, recumbent bikes, and elliptical machines. Interior updates have also been completed, including a paint refresh and new motivational wall art. 

Other updates to the Similkameen Recreation Centre include adding electronic scoring to the four lanes of 5-pin bowling, developing a kid’s games area in the bowling alley, and adding a basketball net to the multi-use court. A refresh of the indoor climbing wall was also completed along with installing signage and artwork around the building and starting the multi-year landscape rejuvenation project which will include electrical vehicle chargers. 

RDOS Recreation was also featured in a Volunteer BC article titled Making Volunteering Count: The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen. This article highlights the critical role volunteers play in building healthy and cohesive communities.

The Similkameen Recreation Centre is located at 311 9^th Street in Keremeos, BC, and serves Electoral Areas “B” and “G” and the Village of Keremeos.
