Strategic planning is a tool used to define and guide an organization’s corporate policy, approach and decision-making processes and to allocate resources for pursuing the plan, including its capital and people.
The Regional Board and the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen use this planning model to rank strategic corporate priorities for the upcoming year; remainder of the term; and; foreseeable future.
This document is updated and presented to the Board of Directors on a quarterly reporting schedule in order to outline staff's progress in achieving the Board’s direction set at its annual strategic planning session.
The intent of this process is to continuously explore and enhance corporate governance, while seeking strategic opportunities for innovation.
A companion document to the Strategic Plan is the annual development of a corporate business plan. During this process, the Board of Directors sets annual objectives, and performance indicators, along with measurements and responsibilities. Administration reports back to the Board on a quarterly basis during the year on their progress against the Business Plan.
