News Article

INFORMATION RELEASE

The Regional District of Okanagan‑Similkameen (RDOS) is providing an update to the previously announced fee-based online booking system for the existing and upgraded sports courts at Pioneer Park in Kaleden (Electoral Area “I”).

As outlined in the February 25, 2026, information release, the RDOS planned to introduce fee‑based online bookings for the newly renovated pickleball and tennis courts beginning Saturday, March 21, 2026.

Following further discussion and direction from the Kaleden Parks and Recreation Commission, access to these courts will continue with free drop‑in use, while paid bookings will still be available through the online booking system. This approach is expected to be in place until further notice, pending confirmation from the RDOS Board.

Please note online booking is required to confirm court times in advance.

What’s changing?

  • Court gates will remain unlocked, or a generic access code will be shared to allow public entry
  • Free drop‑in use will continue for the newly renovated pickleball courts and tennis court
  • Paid bookings will still be available through the RDOS online booking system

What’s staying the same?

  • Online bookings will continue to be managed through PerfectMind
  • Individuals or groups with confirmed bookings will have priority and may require drop‑in users to vacate the court during their reserved time
  • Booking fees remain in place and must be paid in accordance with the RDOS Fees and Charges Bylaw
  • The multi‑use slab and volleyball court continue to follow the same process previously communicated, including free drop‑in use

Booking fees

The following fees apply to booked court time only:

  • Tennis and pickleball courts: $12 per hour, per court
  • Multi-use slab and volleyball court: $5.00 per hour, per court

Project background
The RDOS Board of Directors supported the introduction of a fee-based online booking system in October 2025, following a recommendation from the Kaleden Parks and Recreation Commission. An administrative report presented to the Board on October 16, 2025, detailed the necessary amendments to the RDOS Fees and Charges Bylaw (Bylaw No. 3097.04) to support this change.
