RDOS launches Regional Matters video series
News ArticleINFORMATION RELEASE
The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) has launched a new video series to provide information and perspectives on issues impacting the region. The first video in the Regional Matters series features an interview about the proposed transitional housing site.
The City of Penticton is considering a portion of 616 Okanagan Avenue East (Dartmouth Dog Park) as a potential site for temporary housing. Penticton is working with the province, BC Housing, and community partners to explore the location for up to 50 temporary homes with 24/7 on-site supports based on site feasibility and municipal approvals.
“We can make a bold and brave decision to do something, knowing we will get some resistance from some sectors of society,” said Julius Bloomfield, City of Penticton mayor, during the Regional Matters interview recorded on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. “But for the good of the community as a whole, we do something.” The Regional Matters interview also features Julie Czeck, the City of Penticton’s general manager of public safety and Blake Laven, general manager of development services. You can learn more about the proposed transitional housing site by visiting the City of Penticton website at penticton.ca/homelessness.
The Regional Matters video series will focus on a range of issues, projects, and services impacting residents and visitors across the region. Future topics include how to use the Voyent Alert! notification system and curbside collection during the winter months.
You can view the Regional Matters series, board and committee meetings, and other videos on the RDOS YouTube channel.
