Floodplain Exemptions
If your property is within the designated floodplain an exemption may be required if you intend to build with a floor elevation lower than the Flood Construction Level, or within the Floodplain Setback Line.
Applications for a Floodplain Exemption require the submission of an application fee, completed application form and supporting documentation (i.e. site plans) as well as the submission of a professional report prepared by a suitably qualified individual (i.e. registered engineer or geoscientist).
If an exemption is granted, a covenant stating the conditions for exemption is placed on the title of the affected property. There is a $500.00 fee for the preparation of the covenant.
To complete an application, please fill out the Floodplain Exemption Application Form.
