Definition of Physical Literacy

"Physical literacy is the motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge, and understanding to value and take responsibility for engagement in physical activities for life."
- The International Physical Literacy Association, May 2014

 

Purpose of PLAY Okanagan Similkameen:

To create physically literate communities by aligning key community sectors to cooperate to deliver the what, why and how of physical literacy.

Key Sectors are:

    Education, Health, Media, Recreation, Sport

 

Vision, Mission and Mandate of PLAY Okanagan Similkameen:

Vision:

Physically literate Okanagan Similkameen region.

Mission:

To collaborate to promote, implement and evaluate policy, services and inclusive opportunities to advance physical literacy in the Okanagan Similkameen.

Mandate:

To be responsible for the strategic direction of Play OS.  Fulfill the terms of the PL4C contract between Sport for Life and the RDOS.  Respond to advisement from Prime and Associate Mentors.
