Community parks and recreation surveys now open: help inform the 2023 budget

News Article

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) has launched its annual Parks and Recreation Community Survey for Electoral Areas B, D, E, F, G and I. Communities contributing to a parks and recreation service are invited to complete these surveys in order to help plan for programming and service needs for the upcoming year.

The RDOS has an abundance of natural spaces, parks and trails and offers a wide range of recreation services, facilities, and amenities. The Parks and Recreation Community Survey provides an opportunity for the RDOS to gauge community interest and track feedback regarding services and amenities specific to the respective Electoral Area. Responses and feedback are an important step in creating a 2023 draft budget.

Each year, the recreation team reviews its services in participating Electoral Areas and offers this survey to ensure taxpayers have an influence on the type and level of service the RDOS provides. Community input can help determine where to allocate resources. From cleaning park washrooms, servicing sports courts, and faster response times, to maintenance requests, to hosting one-time pop-up events, special events, or providing more programs, the RDOS recreation team aims to create more partnerships and more opportunities to meet community needs. In addition to reviewing service levels, the survey helps shape future planning and forecasting what recreation amenities or capital projects need to be improved or maintained for each community according to its specific needs and trends.

Take the survey by Friday, August 5, 2022 and help us shape your community’s future for Parks and Recreation as we strive for Healthy Individuals and Healthy Communities.
